“After hearing both sides, the Duty Magistrate granted bail to Uday Bhanu Chib,” Sulaiman said, adding that the court noted the Crime Branch had not sufficiently explained the reasons for seeking extended custody.

The Delhi Police Crime Branch had sought a seven-day extension of Chib’s police custody. However, the court declined to extend the remand, observing that investigators had failed to adequately justify the need for further custodial interrogation.
Advocates Mohammed Sulaiman, Rupesh Singh Bhadauria and Chitwan Godara appeared for Chib. Speaking after the hearing, Advocate Sulaiman said the prosecution had moved an application seeking a seven-day extension of police custody for Chib and additional remand periods for two other accused. The defense, he said, filed a bail application opposing the extension.
Advocate Rupesh Singh Bhadauria said Chib had already been in police custody for four days and described the late-night developments leading to the hearing. According to him, the defense was informed around midnight that Chib would be produced before the magistrate in the early hours, with the hearing eventually commencing around 1:30 a.m.
